1958 OSCA 372 Cabianca

OSCA 372 was the new car built by Maserati brothers under the OSCA (Officine Specializzate Costruzione Automobili—Fratelli Maserati S.p.A.) banner in 1957. OSCA developed new 1500 cc engine for the reason of the introduction of the new rules for Formula 2 class that season. The car type name 372 was in reference to the engine displacement of 372 cc. Both F2 and sportscar versions used the same engine and were similar in most respects except the body. Four Formula 2 cars and five sportscars were built. The F2 racers were labeled F2/S and the sports cars were tagged FS.  In the 1958 season two factory OSCA 372 sportscar were entered for the Monaco Grand Prix driven by Luigi Piotti and Giulio Cabianca. Both cars did not qualify for the race. Later Cabianca took part in the 1958 Italian Grand Prix driving Maserati 250F for Jo Bonnier. Cabianca participated in his home Grand Prix two more times – in 1959 (retired) and 1960 (4th in Scuderia Castellotti Cooper T51). On June 15, 1961 he was testing a Cooper-Ferrari on the Modena Circuit. A gear jumped into the car and the car, with the gearbox in neutral and out of control, left the track at very high speed, entering a gate left open; it fell on the Via Emilia, at that moment congested by the traffic of the workers leaving the factories. The car crossed the Via Emilia and crashed against the wall of a workshop. Crossing the road, Cabianca’s Cooper struck 4 cars and mowing down three motorcyclists, causing the death of Cabianca and three other people.

    1. Hi Bernard,

The models on site are from my personal collection and they are not for sale.
As to OSCA model, it is a creature of Claudio Villa, sometimes the model could appear on eBay. Try to monitor Italian eBay site.
      Best wishes.
