Sarah Fisher moved from Dreyer & Reinbold Racing to Kelley Racing for 2004 IRL season, but could not take a full-season seat in the team after the withdrawal of her primary sponsor. She received sponsorship only for the Indy-500 where she qualified in 19th and finished the rain-shortened race in 21st. Later that year, Fisher made her stock car racing debut, entering a NASCAR West Series.
