Recently I have visited Formula E race – Cape Town ePrix. Leaving aside the sports component, let’s focus on the aesthetic – cars and liveries. 11 teams and 22 drivers take part in the Formula E championship. All teams use the Formula E Gen3 car – chassis made by Spark Racing Technologies. Williams Advanced Engineering supplied the batteries, and Hankook supplied all-weather tires. The main difference between teams is the powertrain. Seven works Formula E teams (DS Penske, NIO, Mahindra, Maserati, Jaguar, Porsche, Nissan) develop and build their own powertrain, and three teams used custom powertrains – ABT CUPRA (by Mahindra), NEOM McLaren (by Nissan), Envision Racing (by Jaguar) and Avalanche Andretti (by Porsche).
