2005 GINAF X2222 Wuf van Ginkel / Edwin van Ginkel / Herweijer

The trucks of GINAF, a Dutch truck brand, first appeared in the Dakar Rally in 1993, being in fact DAF FAV 3600 4×4 rebuilt by GINAF for Kees and Mieke Tijsterman. In 2004 works Ginaf Rally Power team was founded and entered one X2222 4×4 truck in Dakar for the brothers Wuf and Edwin van Ginkel, managers of GINAF Service in Ederveen. They  finished 36th.  After evaluating the 2004 edition, the main focus was on more engine power. The company PON-Power was able to supply the team with a Caterpillar D18 engine, with no less than 950 hp,  150 hp more than DAF engine used   in 2004  – that’s why CAT logo is placed on a front panel of the track.  After a good start, the hangover came shortly after the rest day: in stage 12 the front axle suspension was damaged beyond repair. Van Ginkel brothers started in Dakar until 2014, as long as the GINAF team took part in the rally. Wuf van Ginker highest finish was 6th in 2010, and the same year Marcel van Vliet scored the record 3rd position for GINAF Rally Power team.
