In the 1988 Dakar DAF de Rooy Team had two service trucks –the same FAV 3600 as the previous year. Truck #608 was driven by Peter van Maris, and #609 by Leon Dieker. After the tragic accident with racing DAF TurboTwin X2 when co-driver Kees van Loevezijn was killed, DAF withdrew the team from the rally.
