





Alta company founded by engineer Geoffrey Taylor in Surbiton, Surrey produced its first automobile in 1929. In 1934, Taylor produced the first racing Alta, a voiturette single-seater. In the early post-WWII period Alta built three Grand Prix cars fitted with the 1485 cc supercharged engine. First two cars were race by George Abecassis and Geoffrey Crossley, and third Alta appeared in 1950 went to Joe Kelly, a racing driver and motor dealer from Dublin. In his Alta Kelly participated in the 1950 and 1951 British rounds of the Formula One World Championship, and was not classified both times.
