1950 SVA-Fiat 1500 Fisher

SVA is one of the most obscure early Formula 1 cars. It was built by Società Valdostana Automobili and powered with a 1,500 cc (92 cu in) supercharged Fiat-derived engine fueled by a mixture of petrol and alcohol. SVA was founded by Giovanni Savonuzzi and Virgilio Conrero, both originally from Fiat’s aviation competitions department. The initial aim of the company was to develop the cars made by Cisitalia, but then company changed the focus to building own single-seaters. At first Formula 3 car with a 500 cc (31 cu in) Moto Guzzi engine was prepared, and later F1 SVA-Fiat was built. The car was entered for the 1950 San Remo Grand Prix, driven by Swiss Rudolf Fisher from Ecurie Espadon. The car was allowed to start from the back of the grid without managing to set a practice time, but retired on the first lap due to broken oil pipe. Later Fisher was entered with SVA for the Swiss Grand Prix, but did not appear. SVA closed at the end of 1951.
