The Camoradi (Casner motor racing division) International team was founded by Lloyd “Lucky” Casner in 1960, after he gained interest in the Maserati Tipo 61 in August 1959, and was created to race in the 24 Hours of Le Mans. In the 1959 Camoradi debuted in Grand Prix, entering Tec-Mec – Maserati for Fritz d’Orey in the US Grand Prix. In the 1960 Camoradi used F2 Behra-Porsche car driven by Masten Gregory and Fred Gamble in a couple of races. In the 1961 season Camoradi entered for almost full schedule with Maserati T51 cars driven by Gregory and Ian Burgess. Like in sports cars, Camoradi F1 Maseratis were prepared and maintained by the factory and in European races managed by Maserati. Camoradi’s role was primarily financial. Gregory started the season with DNQ in Monaco, then finished 10th in Belgium, 12th in France and 12th in British GP. Burgess’ best was 12th in Germany.
