March F1 car for 1976 season was at the disposal of works March Engineering team with Ronnie Peterson, Hans-Joachim Stuck, Vittorio Brambilla, Arturo Merzario and Lella Lombardi. Due to a small budget, the cars tending to turn up in different liveries as race-by-race sponsorship deals were signed. Brambilla was entered under Beta sponsorship, Merzaio raced for Ovoro and Lombardi was sponsored by Lavazza. Peterson in March was the surprise winner of the 1976 Italian Grand Prix. He scored one more point in Austria and finished the championship in 11th position with 10 points.
