The 2014 Formula One Mercedes was named “F1 W05 Hybrid” to represent the fifth Formula One car that Mercedes had constructed since 2010, while the hybrid was marked to recognize the utilization of fully integrated hybrid power units. The car was designed and developed under the direction of Bob Bell as Technical Director and John Owen as Chief Designer. The cars were driven by 2008 World Drivers’ Champion Lewis Hamilton and Nico Rosberg, both of whom remained with the team for a second and fifth season, respectively. Remarkable features as of the launch were a highly developed front wing and very low nose cone. Mercedes dominated the 2014 Formula One season winning 16 out of 19 races of the year. Hamilton took 11 victories and won his 2nd World champion tittle. Rosberg finished the season runner-up with five wins.
