



Austrian Steyr company continued to race with their works team in the 1923 season. The team’s line-up included famous Italians Ferdinando Minoia and Gastone Brilli-Peri and Austrians Hermann Rützler and Robert Siercke. Steyr raced in the 1923 season in the Targa Florio, Mugello Circiot and several hill climbs. The Steyr sport model, Steyr type VI Sport 15/90 hp, had a 4014 cc (88 x 110 mm) 6-cylinder engine, also quoted with a 4.0-L and 4.5-L engine. Italian veteran Ferdinando Minoia, 39, finished third with a Steyr after Ugo Sivocci and Antonio Ascari in the 1923 Targa Florio. Brilli-Peri,30, retired on the first lap with engine problems, but two month later he brought first big victory for the Austrian team by winning the Circuito del Mugello ahead of Giulio Masetti and Antonio Ascari in works Alfa Romeos.
