Nicolo Maraini from Como, Italy, entered his private Bugatti Brescia in the 1926 Targa Florio race. On the first lap his Bugatti went off the road at a bend near Caltavuturo and overturned. While his mechanic was uninjured, Maraini suffered a fracture of the upper arm and was transported to the Prestano clinic. Later that season he competed in the Coppa Vinci at Messina. In 1928 Maraini entered but did not appear in 5th Coppa Acerbo, but he drove a Mercedes-Benz in the Targa Abruzzo held at Pescara road circuit, one day after the Acerbo race.
Maraini was known as a politician and a manager at a large publishing company. In 1926 Maraini was appointed president of the Polisportiva Lazio and two years later he guided the Società Sportiva Lazio (later known as S.S. Lazio Calcio), the first football team of Rome.
