The A523 was designed by Alpine-Renault team for the 2023 Formula One season by the designers squad of Pat Fry (chief technical officer), Matthew Harman (technical director) and Simon Virrill (chief designer). The car was powered by Renault E-Tech RE23 V6 1.6-liter hybrid power unit developing 950 horse powers. The drivers, Esteban Ocon in his fourth season with the team, and newcomer Pierre Gasly, who came from AlphaTauri to replace Fernando Alonso, competed mostly in the middle of the peloton and have achieved one podium finish each. Ocon was 3rd in Monaco and Gasly finished 3rd at Zandvoort. In the final Driver’s Championship standings Gasly was placed 11th with 62 points and Oocon was 12th with 58 points. The Alpine-Renault team took 6th position in the Constructors’ Championship.
Alpine raced with a special pink livery in the main colors of BWT, team’s main sponsor, for the first three races of the year. The usual blue livery was used in the rest of the season.
