At the seventh running of the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1929, Bentley continued to reign supreme as it took a third consecutive win. Other records were broken on the circuit, which had been reduced from 17.262 km to 16.340 km. Bentley achieved a comprehensive victory taking the first four places on distance. Bentley director Woolf Barnato repeated his victory of the previous year, co-driven this time by fellow Bentley Boy Sir Henry “Tim” Birkin. They had led from start to finish, setting a new distance record and lap record.
