Turismo Carretera, also known by its acronym TC, is an Argentine motor racing championship, specialized for touring cars . It is considered the most important motor racing category in the country, and was created in 1937, under the name of Campeonato Argentino de Velocidad (adopting the name Turismo Carretera in 1939) by the Automóvil Club Argentino. In 1937 the Championship consisted of three rounds, all were multi-stage road races. The first official race was Argentine Grand Prix, which lasted from 5th to 15th August. Angel Lo Valvo from Arrecifes, then 28 years old, won the race driving his Ford V8 Coupe. However the first national title came to Eduardo Pedrazzini, who won the final race of the season, Mil Millas Argentinas (1000 miles). As to Lo Valvo, he became the champion of Turismo Carretera in 1939.
