Ricardo Alberto Peduzzi was the son of renowned Argentinean racing driver and mechanic Félix Alberto Peduzzi who enjoyed a fifteen-year Turismo Carretera career between 1941 and 1965, winning many trophies. Born in 1943, Ricardo Peduzzi followed in his father’s footsteps and in his early twenties he became a racing driver himself, participating in the Argentinean Turismo Carretera Championship, since mid- 1960s. Peduzzi drove the famous 1929 Chevrolet, nicknamed as “El Cuadrado”. Despite its archaic appearance, Ricardo Peduzzi’s car was modified to be competitive against more modern machinery, being initially fitted with the 6-cylinder, 270 Hp Chevrolet Apache, which formerly powered his father’s Chevrolet Coupe race car, before switching to a IKA Tornado engine. Its heavy chassis was relieved by filling it with holes and the cockpit was reinforced with a roll-bar structure. The original wooden floor was also replaced with a lighter veneer one. Ricardo Peduzzi at the wheel of “El Cuadrado” became one of front-runners in the series. Due to changes of rules in 1969, which forbade racing chassis built before 1936, “El Cuadrado” disappeared from the Argentine racing scene, but Peduzzi continued to race sporadically, gaining success in zonal categories – he won the TC del Oeste championship in 1971 and 1972 – until he had the opportunity in 1985 to return to the Campeonato Argentino de Turismo Carretera.
