Juan María Traverso is one of the most successful Argentinian touring car driver. He participated in Turismo Carretera in the period 1971 – 2005 and won 6 series’ titles – in 1977, 1978, 1995, 1996, 1997, 1999. He also is 7-times winner of the Turismo Competición 2000 (TC2000), an alternative Argentinian touring car series, created in 1979 by the Automobile Club Argentino following a conflict with the Asociación Corredores de Turismo Carretera (ACTC). Altogether Traverso recorded 46 victories in Turismo Carretera and 71 wins in TC2000. On the way to his final Turismo Carretera title in 1999 Traverso took 2 wins in his Ford Falcon No. 3.
