Mercedes-Benz O3500 was the first bus of the Daimler-Benz production. The powered by OM312 90 hp diesel bus was built in Mannheim . 6049 buses were manufactured in 1949-1955. Specially built van version of the O3500 was used as a racing car transporter for the Daimler-Benz formula 1 racing team in 1954-55.
