



Prince Leon Narishkine, known also as Vladimir Narishkine, was one of the representatives of the large clan of Russian aristocrats, the Naryshkins. In 1917 the entire Naryshkin family left Russia moving to France. Leon, born in 1904, began motor racing in 1930s with quite a good results. In 1931 he finished 10th in Spa 24 hours race driving a Graham Paige car with his co-driver Ledure. In 1932 he was again 10th in Alfa Romeo RLTF with Belgian Jose-Maria Texidor, and in 1933 finished 8th in Graham Paige.
In 1933, Naryshkin was especially active in rallies, participating in 5 competitions in France and Belgium in a Fiat 500 Balilla (995 cc) – the Monte Carlo Rally, Tour de France et Belgique, Paris-Nice, Alpine Cup, and Paris-Antibes. Moreover, in the Tour de France et Belgique he finished first in the overall standings, and in Monte Carlo he took the honorable 8th place.
In the late 1930s Narishkine continued sporadically race in Spa 24 hours and Monte Carlo rally, but without significant results. He made a surprise return to racing in 1953, finishing 5th overall and 1st in Touring cars in the 24 Hours of Spa in a Mercedes with his Portuguese co-driver Viegas Vallagao. This became Narishkine’s highest achievement in motorsport competitions.
