



Since the end of 1970s Lada cars became the main power in the USSR rally racing. USSR national team competed in many international rallies, including World Rally Championship events, in works VAZ Lada specially prepared for rally by the VAZ plant. Lithuanian Stasys Brundza was a best Soviet rally driver of the 1970s – 1980s. He won USSR Rally Championship ten times in 1971 – 1983, became winner of Tour of Europe rally in 1974, and 3 times class winner of 1000 Lakes Rally. His best achievement in the WRC was 6th place at the 1976 Acropolis rally, driving a VAZ-2103. This is the best result for a Soviet rally driver and a Soviet car in the history of the WRC.
In 1977 WRC season Brundza took part in Acropolis Rally in Greece and 1000 Lakes Rally in Finland, retiring in both events. The scale model by IXO represents the car of Stasys Brundza and Anatoliy Brum from 1977 Acropolis.
