Benz developed the world’s first mid-engined racing car, the RH “Tropfenwagen” model, in 1923. Three of the cars were used for the first time at the European Grand Prix at the Autodromo di Milano in Monza on 9 September 1923, where Benz finished fourth and fifth, respectively, with Ferdinando Minoia and Franz Hörner.
