1969 Brabham BT26A Brabham

Jack Brabham and Jacky Ickx drove for Brabham works team, Motor Racing Developments Ltd., in the 1969 F1 season. Jack finished the season in 10th position in the Drivers’ Championship, without wins, while Ickx was runner-up and took two victories – in German and Canadian Grand Prixs.

The BT26 was a technically advanced car for its time. It was constructed from lightweight, high-tensile strength aluminum and featured a streamlined, aerodynamic body design. The BT26 was also notable for its innovative use of a rear wing. This was a new feature in Formula One racing, so Brabham, as some other F1 teams, tried various configurations of the rear wing throughout the season.  At the Dutch Grand Prix Brabham used very small two-pieces low rear wing which was integrated with the engine cover.
