



The N174 appeared in 1974 season was the second F1 car built by Ensign. Like N173 it comprised an aluminium monocoque, conventional outboard suspension, DFV engine and Hewland FGA400 gearbox. The car was used in 1974-75 seasons and in the beginning of the 1976. In the 1974 F1 season, Ensign was represented by single car driven by Rikki von Opel in round one, Australian Vern Schuppan (six following races) and British Mike Wilds (last four rounds). Schuppan was entered as Team Ensign with Theodore Racing, while Wilds entry was Dempster International Team Ensign. Schuppan’s 15 place at Belgian GP was the only classified finish for the team in the 1974.
