The Shadow DN3, designed by Tony Southgate for the 1974 season, was a development of Southgate’s first Shadow F1 car, the DN1. Shadow entered two cars, the one was driven by Jean-Pierre Jarrier throughout the whole season, while the drivers of the second car replaced each other – experienced Peter Revson and Brian Redman, newcomers Bertil Roos and promising Tom Pryce. Swedish driver Bertil Roos won 1973 US Formula Super Vee, and also was doing well in Formula 2 in Europe and Formula Atlantic in Canada. His only chance in F1 was given by Shadow in his home Grand Prix in 1974.
