1974, Jose Dolhem, Spark, Surtees

1974 Surtees TS16 Dolhem

Surtees TS16 designed by team founder and owner John Surtees, was a conventional mid-1970s F1 car featured aluminium alloy monocoque and powered by     Ford Cosworth DFV 3-litre engine. The Team Surtees started the season with Carlos Pace and Johen Mass but in the second half of the season changed pilots frequently, mainly for financial reasons. French Jose Dolhem and Jean-Pierre Jabouille, British Derek Bell, Austrians Helmut Koinigg and Dieter Quester took the drivers’ seat in various races. French F2 driver Dolhem debuted in F1 at his home Grand Prix in 1974, failed to qualify. Then he again did not qualify in Italy. His single Grand Prix start came to end when he was withdrawn by his team after his team-mate Helmut Koinigg’s fatal accident during the season-ending US Grand Prix.
