Fittipaldi team changed their name from Copersucar to Fittipaldi prior to 1978 season and raced the 1978 season with F5A model, a modification of F5 made by new chief designer Giacomo Caliri. Talented and experienced Emerson Fittipaldi squeezed everything out of the car, winning second place in Brazil and scoring points in another 5 races, which brought him high 9th place and the team 7th place in the championship.
