Mexican Hector Rebaque who first drove in Formula One in 1977 for Hesketh, founded his own team next season. Rebaque purchased Lotus 78 car, one of the best F1 vehicle of the time, but having very little experience failed to qualify in almost half races of the year. His finest hour came at the German GP, where he finished 6th and won his first points in F1.
