The RE20 design from the 1980 was modified for 1981 as the RE20B. It was an interim car, on a longer wheelbase for the first season without ground effect. The car was used in the first five races of the season and scored one podium (Prost was 3rd in the Argentinian GP). The best result of Rene Arnoux with RE20B was 5th in the sane race.
