2005 Red Bull RB1 Speed

Energy drink company Red Bull was present in Formula 1 as sponsor since 2005, but entered F1 as entrant and constructor in 2005. RB1 is the first car raced by the Red Bull Racing. The car was designed by Jaguar Racing for use in 2005 season. But in September 2004 Jaguar F1 team was put on sale by the owner, Ford Motor Company. On the final day of sale, 15 November 2004 Jaguar was purchased by Red Bull.  Christian Horner was appointed as the new team boss. The car designed by Mark Smith and Bob Taylor was named as RB1. Red Bull Racing continued to use Jaguar’s Cosworth engines in its maiden year. Red Bull protégé Christian Klien, who drove for Jaguar in 2004, also inherited his seat in a new team. David Coulthard was invited as driver number 1 to bring reliability and experience to the new team. Red Bull was also eligible to enter a free practice driver, and Scott Speed, Vitantonio Liuzzi and Christian Klien shared this role during the season.
