The FW36, driven by Felipe Massa and Valttery Bottas, immediately proved to be more competitive than its predecessor, consistently setting the quickest times in preseason testing. The Mercedes-powered car was especially competitive in the second half of the season, scoring 9 podium finishes (3 by Massa and 6 by Bottas).The team was 3rd in the Constructors’ Championship, Bottas and Massa were 4th and 7th, respectively, in the driver’s standings. The car sported the Martini Racing livery after securing title sponsorship from Martini & Rossi. It became the first Formula One car to wear this livery since the Lotus 80 in 1979.
