Patrick Depailler driving his works Alpine A364 powered by Renault, won the 1972 Monaco F3 race. Depailler was the 1971 French F3 champion, in 1973 he made his debut in F1 for Tyrrell, but in F3 Depailler lost the title to his Alpine teammate Michele Leclere.
