The ninth season of the FIA Formula E championship began its third generation of technical regulations. The new car, Gen 3, with the new chassis again built by Spark Racing Technology and now powered by two powertrains, with a second one added to the front axle, increasing the maximum power output from 250 kW to 600 kW. The weight of the car was reduced by 60 kg. Increased power and reduced weight saw maximum speeds climb to over 320 km/h.
Brazilian Lucas di Grassi, Formula E veteran who competed in the series from the beginning, moved to Mahindra Racing for the 2022–23 season. The partnership was short and not very impressive. Scoring only 32 points, di Grassi ended the season 15th and left the team following the conclusion of the season.
