Dutch train model company Lion Toys was founded by Arie van Leeuwen in 1946. Sub-brand Lion Car was introduced in 1956 to produce models cars, mostly DAF, in scale 1:43 and 1:50. Later in the 1990s the name Lion Car was dropped. In 2010 Lion Toys was taken over by Tekno, another Dutch model truck manufacturer.
