Grand Prix History in Scale Models

Lledo

A British company that produced die-cast collectible car models. The company was founded in 1982 by Jack Odell (co-founder of the legendary Matchbox brand) after the bankruptcy of his previous firm. The brand name is an anagram of his surname spelled backwards (Odell – Lledo). The primary focus was on retro cars and vintage commercial vehicles (vans, trucks, buses). The “Days Gone” series became the most famous line. The “Vanguards” series, focusing on precise replicas of classic British post-war cars, also gained immense popularity. For many years, the company maintained production within the UK (in Enfield), while competitors moved to ChinaIn 1999, the company went bankrupt, and the rights to the brand and molds were acquired by Corgi, which continued production of the popular series.
