Minardi team was the hopeless outsider during almost whole period of team presense in F1. 2001 season was not an exclusion. For 2001 team has changed his official name to European Minardi because the chairman and chief executive of European Aviation Paul Stoddart acquired a 70% stake in Minardi from shareholders Gabriele Rumi and Minardi team founder Giancarlo Minardi. Drivers were Brazilian Tarso Marques who returned to the tean afterb3 seasons out of F1, and rookie Fernando Alonso. Spanish youngster whose car is presented in this Minichamps model did not score a single point throughout the season, but got invaluable technical and racing experience in F1.
