Thinwall Special Ferraris were Italian cars owned by racing enthusiast Tony Vandervell of the Vandervell Thin Wall bearing company and future founder of famous Vanwall team. Vandervell was running his own Ferrari 375 as the Thinwall Special using his own thinwall bearings which were to become the established norm for engine bearings in the future. This Brumm model represents the car driven by Mike Hawthorn to victory at the 1953 Goodwood Trophy run that year as Formule Libre event.
