The 246 model was built by Ferrari for the 1958 Formula 1 season. The 246 used a 2417 cc Dino V6 engine with a 65° angle between the cylinder banks. This was the first use of a V6 engine in a Formula One car. In 1958 Mike Hawthorn took the Drivers’ Championship title and his teammate Peter Collins won the British Grand Prix and was 5th in the Championship. In the 1958 season also the first Constructors’ Championship, or International Cup for F1 Manufacturers as it was officially called, was awarded. The winner was Vanvall, while Ferrari with Hawthorn and Collins took 2nd place. The Brumm model from the set No. 2 of the special limited series “50’s British Champions” distributes exclusively in UK by Modeltime Ltd. represents Peter Collins’s car from his victorious British Grand Prix along with the standing driver’s figure.
