Matra MS80 was the fourth car produced by French team since it entered F1 scene in the previous season. The car was powered by Ford Cosworth DFV 3000 cc engine capable of around 420 bhp. A major change from the MS10 was the location of the fuel cell, which was moved from behind the driver and placed in sidepods by the driver’s hips. Drivers of Matra International team in the 1969 season were Jacky Stewart and Jean-Pierre Beltoise who teamed up for the second consecutive year. Stewart drove the car to victories in 6 out of 11 Championship rounds and took his first Driver’s title. Beltoise, whose car from the Spanish Grand Prix is represented by this Quartzo model, achieved two podium finishes at Spain and Italy which was enough to secure the Constructors Championships for the Matra team.
