Team Tyrrell chief designer Derek Gardner in his new construction for the 1971 just slightly improved the 001, the first Tyrrell car appeared at the end of 1970 season. New features were redesigned nose section, longer wheelbase and narrower monocoque. The new car driven by Jackie Stewart won his first race, the Spanish Grand Prix at Montjuic, the second round of the Championship. Stewart -Tyrrell combination continued to prove unbeatable for the rest of the season. Scottish champion won another 5 Grand Prix out of 9 remaining races and easily secured his second World Champion title. The model from RBA Collection represents Stewart’s 003 from the Monaco Grand Prix also won by Jackie. The same car is also modeled by Quartzo. The RBA model is based on Quartzo’s Tyrrell 001 mold used to produce a series of Tyrrell 001, 002 and 003 models. See more info and discussion in 1971 Tyrrell 003 Stewart post.
