2005 Ferrari F2005 Schumacher

Scuderia Ferrrai’s car for 2005 Formula One season, the F2005, was the less competitive vehicle from Maranello since the 1995. After five straight Driver’s Championships and six straight Constructors titles the 2005 season was the significant step down for Ferrari. The car itself, which was Aldo Costa’s and Rory Byrne’s creation based on winning F2004, was not so bad. The major problem for Scuderia was the Bridgestone tyres. They were uncompetitive comparing to Michelin which was used by all other major rivals. The only win of Michael Schumacher and Ferrari in the season was at United States Grand Prix where Michelin claiming that their tyres were unsafe. So only six cars from three Bridgestone supplied teams – Ferrari, Jordan and Minardi – raced in the US GP. In other full-grid races of the season Schumacher really fought for victory only at Imola and Hungaroring. Thus the season’s results (3rd place both for Schumacher with 62 points in the Drivers’ standings and for the Scuderia in the Constructors’ standings) were the worst Ferrari performance since the 1995.
