The 1981 126CK designed by Mauro Forghieri and Harvey Postlethwaite was Scuderia team’s first attempt at a turbocharged Formula 1 car. The 126 raced in various modifications in 1981 – 1984 seasons. For the 1981 Ferrari had replaced the retired Jody Scheckter with Didier Pironi, while Canadian Gilles Villeneuve remained in the team being the main Ferrari’s hope for the return to the winning circle. Villeneuve won two races during the season – at Monaco and Spain marking the significant improvements in the team and car comparing to disastrous 1980 season.
