The M7C made in 1969, was based on McLaren M10A Formula 5000 car which was a derivate of McLaren M7A. The C specification featured fully enclosed monocoque which gave greater torsional rigidity than the bathtub chassis used in M7A and M7B. Bruce McLaren drove this car most of the 1969 season (except season opening South African Grand Prix when he piloted the M7B). Second place in Spain (the best result of the year), third places at British and German Grand Prix, and series of lower point finishes secured him the 3rd position in the final standings of the 1969 World Drivers’ Championship.
