2009 Ferrari F60 Fisichella

The Ferrari model, used in the 2009 Formula 1 Season, was named F60 to celebrate the fact that 2009 is Ferrari’s 60th year in Formula One. The chassis, designed by Aldo Costa, Nikolas Tombazis and John Iley, was based on the F2008 with many modifications and improvements to fit with the new 2009 regulations requiring shorter wheelbase and  narrower rear spoilers. The engine was Ferrari Type 056 V8, limited to 18,000 RPM, with kinetic energy recovery system (KERS). The drivers line-up at the start of the season was the same as in 2007 and 2008 with  Kimi Raikkonen and Felipe Massa. The Brazilian had a life-threatening accident in the qualifying for the Hungarian Grand Prix involving a spring from Rubens Barrichello’s Brawn GP car falling off and striking Massa on his helmet. He did not start the race and for the rest of the season, and was replaced by Ferrari test driver, Luca Badoer and ex-Force India driver Giancarlo Fisichella. Fisicho drove the F60 in last 5 rounds of the Championship but failed to score any points, as well as Badoer who had 2 starts. The F60 won only one race in 2009, the Belgian Grand Prix, in hands of Kimi Raikkonen, and Scuderia completed the season in 4th position of the constructors’ standings.
