The 312 was used by Scuderia Ferrari in 1966 – 1969. In the 1668 specification few structural and aerodynamic modifications made the car more competitive but less reliable. The 312F1-68 was the first Ferrari single-seater to use wings. The car with the rear wing debuted at Spa in the Belgian Grand Prix in hands of talented Jacky Ickx. Young Belgian driver was 3rd in that race and then won the wet 1968 French Grand Prix with his driving skills. But overall performance of the 312/68 was not as good as of McLaren and Lotus, and despite few other podiums, both Ickx and Scuderia have finished in 4th position in the Drivers’ and Constructors standings respectively.
