The RA273 raced in 1966 – 1967 and was based on 1.5 litre RA272 model. The V12 1500 cc engine of RA272 was replaced by brand new 3,000 cc V12 designed by Shoichiro Irimajiri due to the change of regulations before the 1966 season. John Surtess, single Honda works driver in 1967, raced the RA273 in first seven races of the season (missing one of them, the French Grand Prix). Surtees’ Honda was 3rd at the opening round of the season in South Africa, retired in next three races, and after German Grand Prix was replaced by new RA300. The scale model was issued by Ebbro in its Honda RA series Formula One 1963 to 1968.
