Williams Formula One vehicle for the 2001 season was powered by BMW 3-liter V10, and was driven by Ralf Schumacher and Juan Pablo Montoya. Schumacher was in his third year with them, and Montoya, a Formula 3000 and CART champion, was making his F1 debut. German driver won three races in 2001 (Grands Prix of San Marino, Canada, and Germany) and was 4th in the championship. Montoya won at Monza and took 6th position in the championship. The FW23 was quite fast and competitive, but equally unreliable. If the FW23 managed to reach the checkered flag, it was usually a podium finish.
