The F1 W06 Hybrid was the sixth Formula One car that Mercedes had constructed since its return in 2010. Designed and developed under the direction of Paddy Lowe, technical director, the F1 W06 Hybrid was the successor of the highly successful F1 W05 Hybrid, which has dominated the 2014 season. The domination of the F1 W06 Hybrid was even stronger in the 2015. The team finished the season with 703 points (86.0% of points available), breaking their own record of 701 points set the previous season for most constructor points in a single season. Both cars finished on the podium for 9 consecutive races. Lewis Hamilton won 10 Grand Prixs on the way to his 3rd champion crown. His team mate Nico Rosberg won 3 races before his spurt at the end of the season, when wins in the three final races of the year (in Mexico, Brazil and Abu Dhabi) and six consecutive pole positions placed him runner-up overall with 322 points.
