German Sophia Flörsch debuted in Formula 3 in 2018, when she was 18. Sophia raced in FIA Formula 3 Championship for Van Amersfoort Racing and scored only one point in 21 races. Next year she moved to Formula Regional European Championship, a European F3 series, and finished 7th overall. In November 2019 Sophia was confirmed by HWA Racelab to compete in the 2019 Macau Grand Prix, with support from several Macanese sponsors. The car was 2019 F3 vehicle, Dallara G319, powered by 3.4 L naturally-aspirated V6 engine developed by Mecachrome. Flörsch failed to finish the race after her car suffered a mechanical failure on the eighth lap.
