The 2020 season of the IndyCar Series was shorted by the COVID-19 pandemic. Ten races were cancelled, five rescheduled, and five replacement races added. The major technical change of the season was the introduction of cockpit protection, combining an Aeroscreen and the Halo used in Formula One. Helio Castroneves was entered by Team Penske for the Pennzoil sponsored one-off drive in Indianapolis 500. He began the 2020 Indianapolis 500 from 27th position and finished the race in 11th. Later that season Castroneves signed to race for Arrow McLaren SP in place of the unfit Oliver Askew at the Harvest Grand Prix, the double race at Indianapolis Road Course. It was his first IndyCar start for a team other than Penske since 1999. Castroneves finished 20th in the first race and 21st in the second.
