The 2020 season of the IndyCar Series was shorted by the COVID-19 pandemic. Ten races were cancelled, five rescheduled, and five replacement races added. The major technical change of the season was the introduction of cockpit protection, combining an Aeroscreen and the Halo used in Formula One. For Scott Dixon the 2020 was his 19th season with Chip Ganassi racing. Dixon won the opening three races of the 2020, at Texas, Indianapolis Road Course, and Road America and led the championship for the whole season. He was second in the Indy 500 and added one more win at Gateway, securing his sixth IndyCar Series drivers’ championship.
